The Cheap Girls Guide for Drinking Wine in Epcot

Saving Money with the Epcot World Showcase Wine Walk

Epcot World Showcase Wine Walk

I have to admit that when I head to the World Showcase I do enjoy trying all the wines in each country.  At the same time I also love to make the most of my money.

In a previous post I talked about leveraging the value of a wine flight but now there is a new way to save on wine and it is called the World Showcase Wine Walk.

Epcot World Showcase Wine Walk

The Basics

For twenty dollars you get 6 2-oz glasses of wine (2 wines per location).  You can pick up the Wine Walk at one of the three participating counties: France, Italy and Germany.

When you purchase the wine walk for twenty dollar plus tax they staple the receipt to the World Showcase Wine Walk sheet.  You can then choose to get one or both of the wine samples for that location.

Do not loose this receipt as you will need this to get the wines at the other locations.

Each location offers two samples.  One will be a white and one will be a red.  These are chosen for you and there are no substitutions.

The Wine Walk does not expire.  You can drink the wine in one day or over an entire trip.  I drank mine over four days at my leisure.

Germany

In Germany you head to the back of the pavilion and enter the Weinkeller.  It is left of the Biergarten.  The wines you are tasting are:

  • Valckenberg Madonna Spatlese – A classic fruity riesling that has a delicate sweetness and rather soft acidity.
  • Valckenberg Madonna Liebfraumilch – A red wine that has hints of herbal notes to it’s rich fruitiness and delicate sweetness.

Italy

In Italy stay at the front of the pavilion.  The Enoteca Castello is located on the right next to the chocolate store.  The wines you are tasting are:

  • Castello Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio – An elegant Tuscan white with rich fruit flavors with full body, good balance and a long finish.
  • Rosa Regale – A sparkling red wine with a hint of rose petals and raspberries. (I could have drank this all day long.  Perfect for a hot afternoon.)

France

In France, Aux Vins De France is located on the left just past the fountain.  The lines here can get long so come back if it is crowded. The wines you are tasting are:

  • Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuisse – A white burgundy that is full-bodied with dried fruit flavours with a sublte hint of figs.
  • Chateau Tour de Segur – A Merlot with a ripe fruity bouquet and a hint of vanilla.

My Thoughts

I have to say I really enjoyed this and plan on buying another World Showcase Wine Walk the next time we are at Walt Disney World.

The wines were all very enjoyable and I loved that I did not have to drink them all at once but could leisurely drink them over the entire trip.

I also found out this is a great value.  When I was in France getting my 2-oz of Chateau Tour de Segur my sister got a 4-0z glass for ten dollars.  It shows me that you are getting a deal on these samples.

I would highly recommend this to anyone that like to enjoy wine while walking around the Epcot World Showcase.

For Twenty Dollars you get 6 2-oz glasses of wine, that sounds like a reasonable amount to pay for the experience. I would really like to try that out, sounds like a YUMMY event.
