I did not see Wall-E until I was on a Walt Disney World trip many years ago. We watched it in our hotel room sitting on the bed eating pizza. As my son and I sat there I was happily surprised at how much I was drawn to the couple of WALL-E and EVE.
They are really the classic couple from across the tracks that show us that great romances take work.

WALL-E ( Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth-Class) is your classic garbage collector left on Earth to clean up after the humans have left to seek refuge in space. He is alone except for his cockroach friend Hal yet he continues to do his job and even uncovers a seedling. He is lonely and is desperate for contact.
EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) is from the human spaceship and is a high class robot that only has her job on her mind. She is sent to Earth to look for life and instead find WALL-E. At first she pushes WALL-E away but soon learns to love him.
There relationship is a bit of an uphill battle as EVE goes into sleep mode to await transport back to the human spaceship, WALL-E hitches a ride on the outside of a rocket, cleaning machines want to throw WALL-E out with the trash, and both are attacked by a spaceship determined not to return to Earth.
In the end through commitment to each other they bring humans back to earth. Through their actions they showed the humans that human (and robot) interaction are worth fighting for.
To me that is a classic Disney romance.
confession… I’ve never seen this movie and I even OWN it!! crazy huh? I think I need to plan an movie night… great post Mary!
It’s been a while since I’ve seen Wall-E, I need to watch it again soon. Nice post Mary!
I LOVED Wall-E! LOVED it. My favorite part of the movie is that he listens to “Hello, Dolly” music the whole movie. It always makes me smile. 🙂 I have a question though – where is that last photo from!? I’ve never seen that!
Rosanne @ The Disney Point
Wall-E’ best friend was Hal the cockroach. This was one of my favorite Disney movies.
It was a pet cockroach! Is this how we are supposed to enter? Such a great movie!
Love can grow in even the most unlikely places!

RoeMo326 I think it is from a past Epcot Flower and Garden festival but not quite positive.
adisneymom Thats ok. I have not seen Frozen and I just saw Mulan for the first time 2 months ago.
Wall-E is one of my favorite movies — especially the scenes where he is watching the old movies on his iPod! Thanks for writing, it was a great post!
Disney fan confession time, I’ve not seen Wall-E, your post has inspired me to give it a chance. =)
I love WALL-E & EVE! I think WALL-E is one of the most underrated Disney films. It’s so relevant and so sweet at the same time.
I love that you chose this couple – definitely not the standard Disney couple! Wall-E was so sweet and definitely a favorite movie!
It is my favorite movie since childhood! It is the only movie that ever made me cry big tears!!!!
We have watched this movie only once and I couldn’t stand it! (Sorry!) Maybe we’ll have to give it a second chance and try to keep a more open mind next time. LOL
HeidiPortzlineStrawser Give it another go. I also have a soft spot because the humans are names John and Mary. 🙂
jennlissak I know. He reminds me of the guy in high school you SHOULD have dated but didn’t.
DawnCullo1 I think it is worth it. It will tug at some heart strings as you root for WALL-E.
Okay I’ve not heard of this movie….Wondering why? Is it for kids? Certainly it is…..Love the luggage though – and would love to have it all!!!
I haven’t seen Wall-E but now I feel like I need to! It sounds like such a great movie! Also, thanks for a great giveaway!
Cool, my boys would like this -they like this movie!
LOVED wall-e! Haven’t seen it forever either! Thanks for sharing!
Wall-e is so cute. My daughter hasn’t seen this one yet but is in to robots now.
Wall-E and Eve are two of my favorites. I first watched the movie on a day when I got some not so great news so it has a special place in my heart. 🙂
I was just doing the sweepstakes and noticed you used one of my photos! Thanks so much for including the photo credit! I love seeing Wall-E and Eve at Disneyland Paris! 🙂
Loren, I am so.happy you commented and are ok with how I.used you photo. I have had sooooo many questions about it. Can you tell us more about where and when you took it?
I wish the parks in the states had a WallE and Eve! Eeeeeeeeeeevvvvaaa!
Me too – on the luggage. I think this movie flew under the radar of many. It is for kids and I would highly recommend it. Especially if you have kids into robots, rockets, and/or space.
I just recently saw it for the first time and it is really cute. Add it to your list if you see it is on Netflix or on TV.
Looks like a good movie – I have never seen it! We will need to rent it for Movie night!
