Three Brothers Wineries – New York Finger Lakes Wine Trail
Think wine tasting is snooty – snotty? Are you more laid back, not serious about the vintage or bouquet? You just want to have fun while tasting wine with your friends? Then I think Three Brother may just be the place for you.
My husband and I love to go to the Finger Lakes everytime we are in upstate New York. We have our favorite wineries with some FANTASTIC wines. But every trip our first stop is Three Brothers Wineries.
This is one of the most unique wine tasting I have ever been to. When you pull up you aren’t just going to one winery but rather three. And did I mention they also have a brewery on site?
The Passport
When you first arrive on site you can head to any of the wineries and pick up your passport. You can pay for individual tastings but a passport is the cheapest way to enjoy the wines. On our last visit it was $12 and included the glass.
This passport gets you 4 tastings at each of the wineries and the brewery. I have to mention here that this is social so sometimes everyone loses count on how many tasting there have been.
Let’s take a look at the wineries (and brewery) in the order we always visit.
Stony Lonesome Wine Cellars
This winery is the more traditional tasting room on property. It offers there more refined (sorry for the wine snob wording) wines.
Here you will find some classic Finger Lake Riesling. They have everything from a dry (Zero Degree) riesling to a sweet dessert (Third Degree) riesling. In addition they are also known for their semi-sweet Chambourcin.

- Red wine tasting sheet
But my favorite is the White Merlot. It won’t remind you of a traditional Merlot and it is on the sweet side. But is is smooth and delicious. I could drink it every day!
Once we have had our serious wine it is time to have a bit of fun and just enjoy ourselves.
Bagg Dare Wine Company
Once you leave the Stony Lonesome take a left and head to the back of the property. What greets you is a a bayou setting where you have to walk down a very interesting old dirt pathway towards a shanty that sits on the dock of a pond.
As you enter you will find that the place is loaded with ‘junk’ and there is a slight pirate theme. That just set the tone here and this is the place where you will find yourself being very social.
Just so you know the wines and atmosphere here are a bit off color as this sign using all of the wine names demonstrates. But with names like Ride’er All Night Blush, Skirt Lifter and Well Hung White you should expect a but of punnery.
As for the wines themselves… they are VERY sweet and what I would call a ‘weekend patio pounder’. They are bottles you pull out to for female guests or give as gag gifts.
I do find the whites very pleasant. Since I am not a big sweet red fan I usually skip those. I typicaly come home with at least one bottle of Poor Limp Richards (which reminds me I have one in the fridge as we speak)
Once we leave Bagg Dare we head back up the path and usually take the short cut to War Horse Brewing.
War Horse Brewing Co.
Coming up from the back you instantly see the World War II theming.
Once inside the theming continues and the walls are filled with photos of friends and families of those who’ve served and over the years. It is quite a collection.
War Horse Brewing Company offers up 2 hard ciders, 3 beers and 2 non-alcoholic options. There really is something here for everyone.
I have to be honest here. I am not big on their beers. A bit to hoppy for my taste so usually I just enjoy the root beer and orange soda. But on my last visit they had added hard ciders to the mix. Yummy!!
I instantly became a fan of both of them but the Bombshell Raspberry Hard Cider was my favorite. I could use one right now.
Once we finish off here we just cut through to the building to our last stop.
Passion Feet Wine Barn
Two reasons we like stopping here last. 1. it is also the store so we can pick up any last minute bottle and 2. it has a slushy!
The wine here is sweet and fruity. It is billed as a girls night wine and believe me that is a spot on description.
But the best part is after all the wine tasting they make a wine slush (which I forgot to take a photo of). It is actually very good and a pitcher of this on a girls weekend would make any woman happy.
Once we have completed our rounds we head on our way to ‘begin’ our Finger Lakes wine tasting. We typically spend 1-2 hours here so make sure to factor that in.

This is a wineries that is meant to be just a fun time spent with family and friends. It is a destination rather than just another winery along the Finger Lakes wine train.
If you are ever in the area you need to add this to your ‘must do’ list. You will not regret or forget it.
And my I recommend the wine slushie. 😉

That is so cool! I’ve never seen a winery quite so rustic. I love it!
This is such a neat winery!! I have never been to one I think it would be so neat to take a tour and see the process!
I love the rustic feel of this place. My hubby would never want to leave! We live too far away to go there now, but I will added to my list of place I can check out next time I am out that way!
It looks like you had a great time on your trip! That Bagg Dare winery has a lot of character! 🙂
it looks like you had a great time! wine slushies, lol- don’t let the kids see! hahaha
