Have you traveled to Disney with a little one under the age of three?  If you have then you know how much planning it takes to work around their schedule. Planning meals is always a struggle because you don’t know how they will behave, will they like the food, etc. etc.

Character Meals may be the answer:

  1. Characters are available for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner – You can schedule your meal to meet your child’s schedule. In our case, our son is a morning person so we schedule a Character breakfast for when we have the best shot for a well behaved toddler.  The other benefit is that we get into the parks before opening (for those meals in a park) and can have a head start once they open.
  2. You get to all eat what you want –  At a buffet everyone gets what they want! At other restaurants we would order our food and he would eat off of our plate.  This way everyone is happy.
  3. You don’t have to stand in line to meet the Characters – The beauty of a Character breakfast is you don’t have to stand in lines waiting to meet a Character.  Each Character comes to your table at least once and I notice they spend a couple of extra minute with toddlers.  It is so sweet.
  4. They are Free! – Children under 3 are free.  So you get all this and don’t have to pay Disney.  You cannot beat that.

Our son, has been to Disney World 4 times before the age of two and we have two more trips this year planned so he is a seasoned vet when it comes to Character meals.  He loves watching the Characters work the room and gets excited as they get closer.

Sometimes he is too busy eating and a Character sneaks up on him.  This happened at the Disney Junior breakfast at Hollywood and Vine.  The boy from Little Einsteins snuck right up on him. He just laughed in surprise when he saw him.

He was not into the interactive part of this breakfast which is sort of like a mini-dance party.  He preferred to watch from his chair.  But Handy Mandy came over to him and made him feel included.  I know that Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates has joined this breakfast and we hope to go back again for a visit.
