Let me start with – a 25 minute bird show is ABSOLUTELY worth it! Especially if it is Flights of Wonder at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
It’s one of the most skipped attractions in the park. When people see it is ‘just a bird show‘ they walk right past it and head straight to Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain™ or Finding Nemo – The Musical instead.
But let me tell you it is probably one of the funniest and educational shows on property. I happened on it by chance and it is now one of my favorite shows to watch.
The show begins with a bird trainer coming on stage to educate us on birds and their habitats when all of a sudden the show is interrupted by a tour guide leader looking for his tour group. Enter Guano Joe (or Jane). The show has now taken a turn and let the fun begin.
Enter our tour Guide, the world famous Guano Joe
It turns out Guano Joe is a famous explorer who is afraid of birds. After he is chased by a chicken (my favorite moment) and a harris hawk takes his tour guide flag, the bird trainer tries to help him get over his fear of birds.

Getting Schooled on Birds
This is the education part but the entire time you are laughing at Guano Joe and his run in’s with the different types of birds. You are introduced to the fascinating and often humorous talents of at least 20 species of exotic birds.
The audience also gets into the action and you may even have a chance to go on stage and take a picture of a great horned owl coming straight at your head.

In the end Guano Joe gets over his fear of birds and his tour guide flag back (a little worn out).

At the end of the show you realize you have learned a bit about these beautiful birds, why they are disappearing from the planet, and how Disney is helping through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. And all of this is done while laughing at poor Guano Joe (or Jane).
