Well I just came back from the Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World.  This trip was a solo trip and a chance to meet some of the gals from The Magical Blogorail: Melissa from Disney on Wheels, Beth from Pursuing the Magic, and Jennifer from Disney Babies Blog.

What I love about the Princess Weekend is that it is an excuse for many women to have girls weekends at Disney without their families.  On my flight to Orlando I met three such gals: Jennifer, Shelley, and Ashley.  Two were running the half marathon and the third was there to chEAR them on.   This was not there first running weekend and you may see them around the blogs in the future as the Running Divas.

Once I checked into Port Orleans Riverside I headed over to the Expo to pick up my packet for the Mickey and Minnie Royal Family 5k. Transportation over to the convention center at Coronado Springs was fantastic and the packet lines were painless.

Then I turned the corner and headed into the Expo.   Oh my goodness!!!!  The number of women shopping was staggering.  Very few men were to be seen and the money was flowing.

Of course I jumped in and bought myself a Raw Threads running shirt and a new pink sparkly headband from Sweaty Bands.  Now that I left Disney I am not sure the pink headband was a smart purchase – I’d say it is the equivalent of buying that cute set of Mickey ears.  (Glad I bought that second princess headband for every day!)

That evening I headed over to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with some Off to Neverland Travel gals I had never met before (Amanda and Marcie – who were also on a girls running weekend) for dinner at Be Our Guest Restaurant.  Before dinner I took a couple of artsy shots around the new Fantasyland.

I have to tell you the funny part of dinner. It turns out Amanda had made the dinner reservation for a party of 8 but there were only 3 of us.   So she and Marcie actually wandered the park and found 4 people to join us.  They were 2 couples from New Orleans who did not think it was strange at all to be asked to join total strangers for dinner.  The great part was we all got a long famously and had a wonderful time.   There was a lot of laughing at our table.

The actual dining room is beautiful.  Watching the snow fall outside was magical and something that is hard to describe.  The other room you may eat in is the Beast’s study.  It is a very neat room that included the portrait that changes between the Beast and the Prince and the rose.   The rose is very hard to photograph so I apologize for the quality.  I am not sure if I would like to eat in there as it is very dark.

As for the meal I will say the food is solid.  I am not going to say it was great but I did feel like I got my monies worth.   I had the salmon on a leaks fondue (mashed potatoes with cheese and leaks).  Others at our table had the strip steak and semi boneless hen (there were quite a few bones for being called semi-boneless).   Dessert was wheeled to our table and I think we ordered one of everything.  The winners seemed to be the chocolate cupcake and the sugar-free lemon-raspberry tart.

And of course we tried the grey stuff and it was delicious.  This item is only upon request and just know they bring a sample with little tiny spoons.  So it’s not really a dessert option but more of just for fun.  We all agreed that it was wonderful and should be a cupcake topping.

Throughout dinner our host, the Beast,  would be announced and parade through the restaurant.  Then you would have a chance to have your photo taken with him in the foyer where you order counter service.  He is BIG so be aware he may frighten small children.

So after our wonderful dinner I said good ye to my new friends and headed back to my room to get some sleep before the Mickey and Minnie Royal Family 5k.

Stay tuned for the race….
