Little Mermaid comes back to TUTS Houston Sept 10-13
I LOVE introducing my sons to the theater. Mr J got his chance with Scooby Doo Live! Musical Mysteries (which as corny as it was I really enjoyed).
Now Mr T is going to get to go with me to see the Little Mermaid at Theater Under the Stars (TUTS) here in Houston. I cannot wait! (order tickets here)
My Personal Connection
What I love about the Little Mermaid is that I remember seeing it in the theaters when I was in high school.
I owned the CD (had to think there for a moment – yes, they did have CDs way back then) and would drive through out town singing ‘Part of Your World’.
At the time The Little Mermaid movie was the perfect high school love story.
But the first time I saw the theatrical version I realized that there was so much more to it. It was much more about growing up and trusting your parents and their wisdom.
At the same time it spoke to parents about having to learn to let your children go and trusting them to make the right decisions. (much more complex than love in the school hallways that I saw as a young girl)

Triton blesses his daughter’s decision
As a parent now I look at my boys and know someday that they will be strong (or at least I hope they will) young men that will make the most out of life and tack chances to follow their dreams.
What I Hope to Share with my Son
When I take Mr T I know he will not get the nuances of the play. The depth of characters or the life lessons.
I want Mr T to come away from The Little Mermaid AMAZED!
I hope that he is drawn in by the colors and taps his feet to the music. I want him to turn to me and just say ‘again?’.
I want this to be his first of a long line of experiences at the theater. Something that I love and want to share with him. It all starts here.
Recently TUTs interviewed the actors playing Ariel and Eric. You can tell they just love their jobs and that the also love sharing it with the audience. (and note their favorite song is also Part of Your World)
Order Tickets Now
This is the second time Little Mermaid has been to Houston but this time it is for a very very limited engagement. We are talking one weekend only!
The dates are September 10 thru 13 so get your tickets now! Yes now!! There are FIVE PERFORMANCES ONLY!!
You don’t want to miss this at all. click here to purchase tickets
I just checked there are still seats available for all dates and times. Tickets range in price from $58 to $125 plus ticket master fees. (I hate those fees!!)
My husbands tip for avoiding the fees – go straight to the box office and purchase them there. He also like the fact that when you do that you can talk to someone who can help you choose just the right seat. Much better than online.
If you are in the Houston area I hope you consider going and if you do keep your eyes peeled. You may just see Mr J and I.

WHoa! It would be quite interesting to see The Little Mermaid on the stage!! How creative!
Wow, that would be so fun to see the Little Mermaid on stage. I remember when the movie came out and my daughter could sing all of the words to all of the songs What a fun family adventure.
This would be a fun show to take the children to see. The Little Mermaid is a movie that is shown no less than twice a week in my house.
What an awesome show it looks like! We saw The Little Mermaid show at Disney but this looks like it was amazing.
Little Mermaid is the Disney movie I remember most from my childhood. My sister watched it so many times she could recite it word for word…and often did to my annoyance on long car rides! However, now that we are grown those memories are sweet! I’d love to take my kids to this and pass on our love for Little Mermaid!
My daughter love Ariel but can you believe she’s never seen The Little Mermaid? I enjoyed the movie quite a bit as a kid. This looks like it’s going to be a wonderful performance for families to enjoy!
I wish i had seen the Little Mermaid when it was playing in NY. My youngest is starting to get hooked on Disney movies. We haven’t watched this as a family yet but I am hoping she will enjoy it as much as I did when seeing it for the first time.
