Do It Yourself Mickey Flower Bouquet

Tutorial for Making Your Own Disney Inspired Paper Flowers

DIY Mickey Head Flower Bouquet

As Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day approaches you (or your kids) may be looking for ideas on what to give Mom, Grandma or any other special woman in their lives.

Many kids make the gifts they give Mom (which Mom’s love) and this bouquet of paper flowers would be perfect for any Disney lover.

With just a bit of help from Dad the kids could have these done in an hour.  And the best news is that it is also cheap and you most likely have everything you need lying around the house.

Step 1 : Cut Out 5 Identical Mickey Heads

Create a template for cutting out 5 identical Mickey heads from the paper you wish to make into a flower.  For small flowers 2.5 inches in height worked well with 3.5 inches worked well for larger flowers.

Hint: If you have a Cricut Machine and the Mickey and Friends cartridge you can easily create identical Mickey Heads in any size you wish.

Step 2 : Fold Mickey Heads in Half and Adhere Together

Fold each Mickey Head in half.  Make sure that you fold the Mickey Heads so that the flower pattern you want is on the inside.

Adhere each head to the next by stacking them on top of each other.   You can use glue or craft tape to do this.  Hint: Leave about 1/4″ from the fold without glue or tape.  This will make it easy to add the stem later.

When complete adhere the first and last side to each other to make the flower.

Step 3 : Create a Stem Using a Straw

Cover a straw with paper or a ribbon to make the stem.

Now if you were smart and purchased pretty straws let them be and enjoy the added beauty.

Hint: 1/4″ paper strips work best for wrapping around a straw.

Step 4: Put the Flower Together

Add adhesive to the straw and insert it into the empty space in the center of the flower in Step 2 by leaving 1/4 in without adhesive.

Step 5: Arrange Flowers and Decorate Vase

Decorate vase by using ribbon or scrap paper.  Cut out a Minnie Bow to adhere to it.

Voila! You have a beautiful Mickey Flower Bouquet ready for Valentines Day or any time the romance hits you.

Those are adorable!  I think, to save work, I might just look for green straws!  This would be a fun craft to have ready to assemble for the #DisneySide @ Home Celebrations!

I would have if I had had green straws.  But all I had in the house were yellow and bright purple.  I will say that the texture of the paper does add something.  I think if I did this again I might also add some leaves.
