Haunted Mansion Holiday
One of the main attractions of Disneyland Halloween Time is the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay. They call it a macabre mash-up of 2 spirited holidays, courtesy of Jack Skellington and the residents of Halloween Town. Halloween and Christmas come together through a host of creepy creatures and ghoulish gifts to bring Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to the mansion, and the result is a frightful delight.
Earlier this week, technical director Joe Peters gave Disney Parks Blog a tour as his crew completed the final touches on the 18-day transformation of Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Here are some fun facts Joe shared about Haunted Mansion Holiday:
- More than 400 flickering candles create the Mansion’s eerie nighttime glow
- More than 100 jack-o-lanterns illuminate the exterior
- 7,500 feet of fresh snow is used each year
- At night, several guests have been able to spot Zero protecting the Mansion
- All the iconic black ravens that appear throughout the original Haunted Mansion experience have been replaced by Vampire Teddies except for one – do you know which?
Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
Another exclusive to the Disneyland Park is the overlay to Space Mountain. Creepy cosmic creatures and cosmic storms lurk around every corner as you try and your crew as you zoom through the darkest reaches of space and time to discover what is going on at SpacePort 77. Are you up for the mission?
Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree
Little boys and ghouls are in for some spooky fun this Halloween season at Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. Play bewitching carnival-style games, watch skilled pumpkin carvers, make a Halloween mask and join Mickey and his friends in a mini “mask-parade”, enjoy the spellbinding music of Billy Hill and the “Haunted” Hillbillies.
Villains Meet and Greet
A highlight of the Halloween Time Carnival may be found inside a mysterious sideshow tent where guests are invited to help conjure one of the Disney villains – Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella, Captain Hook or the Evil Queen from “Snow White” – with a magic spell in “The Astounding Cauldron of Magic.” When the villain appears, guests may join him or her to pose for photos.
