Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
Animal Kingdom holds a special place in my heart and so today I have some layouts I created during our Christmas visit there in 2010.
When I am not digi scrapping I am mainly working with an animal rights advocacy & rescue organization. Both my husband and I have as our main mission to help ease the suffering and plight of all animals & we both devote a lot of time to this cause.
Animal Kingdom has many animal exhibits that are often staffed where they educate the public about animals: how they live and how we can do a better job taking care of them. I appreciate the fact that a themed ride such as Kilimanjaro Safaris also has an educational component. For example, emphasis is placed all during the attraction through the showing of videos that show how devastating illegal poaching can be for already endangered species such as elephants and white rhinos.
If you are planning a trip to the Animal Kingdom I highly recommend taking time out from the rides to stroll through the many trails throughout the park featuring animals native to Africa and Asia. Rafiki’s Planet Watch is a wonderful educational spot for children and adults to heighten awareness of our real Animal Kingdom!
My all-time favorite is “Flights of Wonder” – an awesome audience interactive show featuring Birds of Prey and other fascinating & beautiful birds. It is one of our favorite shows in all of Disney World.
In January I will have some layouts featuring this show! Here’s one of my favorite pics showing my teens discussing & viewing youtube videos of different owls on their cell phones after the show & the ones I took of my happy gang observing the spectacled owl.
Back to scrapbooking, On the Animal Kingdom layouts I kept the Christmas embellishments to a minimum this time letting the photos take on that role. I utilized muted Christmas tones and selected natural embellishments. I love the Animal Kingdom Christmas tree the very best out of all the parks and I must say the tree inside the Animal Kingdom Lodge is stunning as well and the ornaments are very similar if not the same.
Decorations inside the Animal Kingdom Lodge:
Scrapping tip:
The photo of the lobby is a photo that I purchased through Disney’s photopass site. During the holidays they will have those photos available. It was worth it to me because their photo was much better than mine!
Finally my matching layout to the very first one in this article.
I do also recommend having your family photo taken in all the parks in front of the tree – each park has one! I love the way the background paper was so perfect for this layout – paper by our own Mary of Capturing Magical Memories in her African Vacation kit.
I used a lot of her embellishments as well – don’t you love the African stars? She designed those to look just like the chandeliers inside the Lodge!
Well that’s a wrap! (sure wish I could say that about my Christmas gifts right now!)
See you next week when I will still have some more holiday fun- Disney style- to share with you!
Peace be with you!
