Digital photos converted from negatives of my first Walt Disney World trip. Wish the one on the Skyway was better but my Mom is known for always screwing up a camera. Thanks Mom!
Here is a bit of history about the photos seen on this page:
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – In 1978 Walt Disney World’s Dumbo was exactly like Disneyland’s. There were just 10 elephants on the attraction and long lines that would near Cinderella’s Royal Carousel. Also Timothyy Mouse was a bit different then. He held a whip in his hand rather than the familiar feather we see today.
- Skyway to Tommorrowland – This was a great ride that would take you from the Chalet next to It’s a Small World all the way to Tomorrowland. You would be let our right next to Space Mountain. The fun thing about being up there was getting a birds eye view of Fantasyland and the now retired 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride. The Skyway was closed in 1999.
- Sunshine Tree Terrace Orange Bird – There was no Dole Whip back in 1978. Instead you headed to the Sunshine Tree Terrace next to the Tiki Room and ordered up an Orange Slush. On this cup with a little Orange Bird made famous by Disney and has now made it’s return pack to the parks.
