Hi everyone,
Before I get started let me just say – yes, Butchart Gardens is in Victoria, not Vancouver! The Disney Wonder uses Vancouver as their embarkment or debarkment port for the Alaskan cruise. If you are so lucky to find yourself in Vancouver do make every effort possible to take the ferry or a seaplane to Victoria to visit the Butchart Gardens and Victoria itself.
It is a beautiful town – very European in feel with boutique shops, outdoor cafes and lots of room to walk and explore. From Victoria you can grab a cab and visit the gardens. Plan to spend an entire day in Victoria with the gardens taking up most of the day. If you take the ferry you will want to spend the night in Victoria since the ferry ride is long and will take up a lot of time.
As gardening and visiting gardens is one of my favorite things to do I was thrilled that this was the activity for our very first day on our trip. The weather was spectacular – blue skies & dry! Many native Canadians were out sunning themselves in shorts & tank tops but this southern U.S. gal did need pants and a light jacket! We were thrilled that it wasn’t raining.
Today I am sharing some of my pages with you. These are all double page layouts as are most of my layouts shared with you in this series of Alaskan cruise blog posts. I took almost 400 photos during our one day in Victoria so I will have lots of pages for my album featuring this magnificent garden.
In late May it was full-on Spring with tulips, rhododendrens, cherry trees, primroses and other traditional English flowers dominating the scene. The Rhododendrens were like nothing I have ever seen in the U.S. and next week I will wrap up my posts on the port of Vancouver with those pages.

I love your pictures and layouts!
Thank you so much Jill!
Have enjoyed looking at your pages. They are very creative. I love the font you used for the first page “BUTCHART” –what is the name of the font you used.
I loved Buchart Gardens and Victoria when we were there. We spent a day there before our cruise in June, 2011.
The Butchart Gardens are one of my favorite places on earth! It’s been much too long, time to make a journey…
