Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Babies Blog and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

I am really happy to be joining Magical Blogorail Blue this month as they talk about the Best Spot in Disney to Celebrate a Special Occassion.   I really struggled with this one as I was engaged, honeymooned, and anniversaried at Walt Disney World.   There are so many places to Celebrate it is hard to just choose one.  So I started to think of where we have had some special moments when we brought friends and family with us.

Walt Disney World Polynesian Resort - Entrance to Ohana Restaurant

In the end I chose the ‘Ohana Restaurant as a favorite spot to celebrate a special occassion with family and friends.  I chose this because it was my Father’s favorite expereince from a trip we took as a family.  We attended Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch with them but we also took my Husband’s parents on a seperate trip for dinner.

Here are why I think it is a good place to celebrate with a group.

  • Walt Disney World Polynesian Resort Once you enter the resort you are in a relaxing tropical paradise, featuring lush vegetation, thatched roofs, koi ponds and white-sand beaches.  This welcoming spirit of the South Pacific sets the tone for a wonderful celebration.
  • Group Photo and Flower Leis –  When you check in for your meal each member of your party get’s a flower lei and you take a group photo.   This provides you something you can take with you to remember your celebration.
  • Tambu Lounge – If you are having dinner, I highly recommend arriving early so you can enjoy a drink at the Tambu Lounge (try the Lapu Lapu).  There are comfy chairs with a view of Bay Lake to get you into that island state of mind.

  • Ambience – The restaurant contuinues the relaxed trolpical feel seen throughout the resort.   You will be seated in very comfortable chairs meant for relaxation.   The lighting is perfect to make your party feel isolated even within a sea of tables.
  • The View – If you request it, you can be seated at a window with a view of Cinderlla’s Castle.   And if you time it right this is a perfect spot to watch Wishes or the Electric Water Pageant.  You may also want to time your meal so you are out before Wishes and you can then move down to the beach for a wonderul view with the music piped in around you.
  • The Characters –  At breakfast you can join Lilo and Stitch for ‘Ohana’s Best Friends Breakfast!   Friends are not garunteed but you could see Mickey or Goofy along with Lilo and Stitch.

  • The Special Touches
    • Coconut races in which children sweep coconuts with brooms across the hardwood floor down the center of the restaurant
    • Playing with hula hoops and dancing to island music
    • Specialty celebration cakes are also available for an additional charge and should be ordered 48 hours in advance by calling (407) 827-2253

I hope this as inspired you to look at Ohana next time you are thinking of planning a special occasion at Disney World.

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is Days in the Park.
