Magical Blogorail Teal Logo

Welcome to those of you joining me from The Many Adventures of a Disney-Lovin’ Spectrum Mom and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

The topic this month was our favorite restaurant experience.  I thought about it for a while and while I do love my Jiko lately I have been enjoying Cape May Beach Club Breakfast Buffet.

The experience itself is a buffet breakfast at Disney’s Beach Club Resort with a New England Beach theme.   Cost is currently $15 for children and $35.99 for adults and a credit card guarantee is required to make a reservation.   During your visit you will meet Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck all decked out for the beach.

The buffet breakfast is standard fare and includes:  Oatmeal Bar, Grits, Selection of Dry Cereal, Assorted Muffins & Danish, Bagels, Smokes Salmon, Cream Cheese, Capers, Yogurt Bar, Cottage Cheese, Sliced Fruit, Scrambles Eggs, Omelets, Pork Sausage Links, Bacon, Potatoes, Breakfast Pizza, French Toast, Mickey Waffles and Biscuits & Gravy

Here is what I personally like about it:

  • Reservation Availability:  This is not one of the ‘must have’ character dining experiences so getting a reservation can be easier than most character meals.  We have been known to get a reservation as a walk up on more than one occasion.
  • Relaxed Atmosphere:  Since attendance is slower and I believe the restaurant is smaller things seemed much more relaxed.   You don’t spend as much time waiting in lines at the buffet or fighting to get to the Mickey Waffles.
  • Character Interactions: The characters here are decked out for the beach so if you like to get photos with characters in different outfits than this meal is a must.   And because of the relaxed feeling of the restaurant it seems that the characters spend just a bit more time with you.

  • Location: If you can grab an early reservation for breakfast you cannot beat the location.   You can easily kick of the day with a character breakfast and then make opening at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios.   And depending on the parking availability you may even be able to leave your car there as you visit the parks for the day.
  • Donald Duck: Ok, this one will only be for the Duck fans but Donald is my favorite so I have to love any restaurant he is at!

And now for some things that I think there is room for improvement on:

  • Bring Back Mickey Mouse: When we went to Cape May on our Honeymoon Mickey Mouse was one of the characters you would meet as you ate.   As of late he has been removed from the regular line up.  No inkling if he will ever make a return.

  • Quality of the Food: The food here is very basic and nothing spectacular.   They do refresh it regularly so it is always fresh but I wish they would add some signature dish to the menu.  Something like the breakfast lasagna from Crystal Palace.

Overall this is one of my favorite vacation meals.   I love to relax with my family before a hectic day in the parks and just enjoy the restaurant and all the characters.
