One of my favorite World Showcase pavilions is Canada. As I am Canadian I have a soft spot for this pavilion. And if you scratch beneath the surface it actually has a lot to offer.

Northwest Territory
The main entrance to the pavilion are the stairs. This is where each morning Disney Cast Members (who are all Canadian) open the pavilion by having guests walk under the Canadian flag. These stairs then lead into an area reminiscent of the early Northwest Territory settlements and include totems created by the Indigenous people (First Nations, Inuit and Métis).
On your left you will find the Northwest Mercantile. This is the gift store for the pavilion and it includes Canadian themed merchandise (think hockey and wilderness animals) and treats (ketchup chips and Tim Hortons). At the back of the gift store is the Trading Post where you can try Canadian beer, wine and even ice wine.
Hotel du Canada and the Canyons
The tallest element of the Canadian lies behind the Northwest Mercantile. It is the Hotel Du Canada that is inspired by the Chateau Laurier, a historic hotel in the providence of Ottawa. You cannot enter the hotel but it does make for some stunning photos.
When you walk back towards it you will find the landscape quickly changing to one with a canyon, babbling brooks and a stunning waterfall. This is a nod to the natural wonder of the Canadian Rockies. From time to time you will even luck upon characters like Brother Bear and Pocahontas.
Butchart Gardens
If you continue walking along the path you will come to what looks like the entrance of the Maple Leaf Mine (representative of the silver mines in the western provinces). The mine is the entrance to the 360 Circle-Vision movie, Far and Wide (previously O’Canada).
Just past the mine you will find one of the best restaurants on property, Le Cellier. This steakhouse is know for it’s Alberta beef, beer cheese soup and pretzel rolls.
Leaving Le Cellier you will find yourself entering a wonderful garden inspired by the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia. You need to take time to take in the picturesque stream surrounded by manicured gardens. It is especially beautiful in spring.
Other Canadian Elements
Right next to the entrance to the pavilion gardens there is this unassuming popcorn and beer cart. Don’t walk past it! There is some maple popcorn here that is just wonderful. In addition to the popcorn you can also order some classic Canadian beer. They rotate the beers, but you can usually find Moosehead on tap
During Epcot Food and Wine Festival there is usually a Canada booth right out front that lets you try bites of what you can find at Le Cellier (steak and cheese soup) along with other Canadian specialties like salmon and nanaimo bars.
And always keep your eyes peeled you never know who may show up for a photo opp.
I would love to hear from you now. What is your favorite thing about the Canada pavilion.
That Melissa sure can be pushy! ?
This was a tough pavilion to write about but you did the best you possibly could! I’ve heard through thr grapevine but never actually have done it myself, that Le Cellier will also do Cheddar Cheese Soup to go too, not just pretzel bread!
Oh if only that Cheddar soup or the Maple Creme Brûlée would be offered as an option for take out. One trip we booked a late reservation just for dessert. The CM was not happy but I had to have that creme brûlée.
I’m glad Melissa roped you into this one because you did a great job at a difficult task! I never would have thought of asking for take-out on the pretzel bread (which is delicious) and now Rosanne comments that maybe they would do the same with the cheddar cheese soup (we tried to make it once at home and it just was NOT the same!) I may have to try this!
Can you get that nanimo bar anytime, or only at the kiosk for Food & Wine? Hmm… maybe I’ll test out that Canadian kindness and ask for a filet to-go from Le Cellier!
I would love that!!! It would be my downfall on every trip.
I love the Canada kiosk at the Food & Wine Festival. Could eat both lunch and dinner at this kiosk. The pavilion could really use a poutine stand like they added to Disney Springs.
Love this idea. Poutine would definitely provide a much needed hot option.
I think I’m going to have to try my luck and see if I can score some pretzel bread from Le Cellier. And Andrew says we all need to stop by for a Moosehead at Thanksgiving. 🙂

I’m thinking snacking around World Showcase will be the plan for our next trip. Thanks for letting me know where to find some in the Canada Pavilion. My husband loves ketchup chips!
