Well I have done it again! I am way behind in my scrapbooking and I am overwhelmed at the daunting task in front of me. I just want may pages made. I don’t have time to create something artistic. I just need to get them down and printed.
How many of you also feel like me?
These days I don’t have the time or energy to ‘scrapbook’ so I am struggling. I don’t want to look for matching papers or look for cute embellishments. I want something fast. I looked at Pocket Pages (Project Life style) scrapbooking and even that looks like too much to handle right now.
So I had to come up with my own method of quickly getting photos on a page. Something that focuses on just getting it done. And I created this page that anyone can do!! And you can recreate it time after time after time. It uses no papers or embellishments – just your photos!!
This page was created Photoshop Elements but it can be done in any program. And since it has no embellishments you could even use Picasa!
So open your photo album making program of choice, start with a blank page, and….
1. Focus on Photos.
- Use only photos and fit as many photos on the page as you can.
- If you want, create photo boxes with rounded corners to soften the photos and work with Project Life. I recommend a corner radius of 30 px.
- Don’t worry about how they line up, just get the photos on the page.
2. Journal.
- Tell your story your way.
- Feel free to write a paragraph or a just add photo titles. If it jogs your memory then you have what is needed.
3. Add a Splash of Color.
- To tie it all together add a couple of shapes behind the photos and use colors from your photos.
- Stripes are the easiest but any shape will do the job. Just use the color picker to pick a color from a photo.
The fun part is you can save this template and use it over and over again. Just change the stripe colors or add different shapes and you are done.

Awesome post Mary! Even though I love to scrap artistically I am a huge fan of the clean look and pocket scrapping. I am totally using methods like this to get caught up on my Disney pages. Each trip I shoot maybe 500 – 700 photos and I am scrapping trips that go back to early 2000! Yikes! I plan on filling in between my more ornate layouts with pocket style pages for sure. What’s cool about your method here is you could literally scrap several days maybe an entire week quickly on a laptop while waiting at soccer practice or getting your oil changed in your car! Great post and template!
Adorable page and great tips! I usually use a lot of color and embellishments, but I love the way clean layouts look! I also try to use as many photos as I can and write down all the important details. It usually takes me longer than I’d like, so I’m very behind! I’m so glad you’ve found a way to document life quickly and easy. Thanks for sharing and thanks for linking up with Memory Keeping Monday!
I am also very behind which is why the streamlining. I will be more creative on special pages but now is time to ‘get er done’. Thank you for stopping by.
Great post, I’ve been using 75px radius but I like your 30px too! I might have to mix them together! You’re so right on the journaling too, some of my pages have a lot of writing and others only have a sentence here or there =) thanks for linking up with us for our first “Memory Keeping Monday”!

I like the idea of mixing up the radius’. That would look interesting. Now I have to make another page this weekend. 🙂
