Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Mamas and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail.

My husband and I purchased into Disney Vacation Club (DVC) when we were actually dating.   Our first (yes, we own more now – it is addictive) home resort is Animal Kingdom and it has a very special place in my heart.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Experiences

One of the favorite things I love about this resort is the one of a kind experiences: Animal Kingdom Lodge Night Safari, Restaurant Culinary Tour, Wanyama Safari and Dinner, Campfire Tales, Night Vision Goggle viewing of the savanna and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari.

The Sunrise Safari has been on my wish list for a very long time. Typically Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari can only be booked by those staying Kilimanjaro Club (concierge) Level.  Since there are not that many concierge rooms available to DVC members the chances of me getting to experience this was slim.

That was until Disney Vacation Club began a test earlier this year that has opened up this tour to all of those staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge on DVC points. Now that the tour is more accessible it is time to learn more about it.

About the Sunrise Safari

On select mornings you can chose to rise early (6-7 am) and get some extra time exploring the savanna.  The tour meets at the Animal Kingdom Lodge but you are quickly broken into groups and heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park where you board one of the Kilimanjaro Safari vehicles.  (note: Since this is within the Animal Kingdom park admission is required.)

This is not your typical safari.  Instead of the normal 20 minute trip you will have close to an hour on the savanna.  Since you are the only people on the savanna, your vehicle can stop and start as desired.

You will have plenty of time to take photos (without bouncing around) of the animals and ask questions of the cast members. It is a really good way to learn more about these animals and their care at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida.  And since the animals have just been just woken up you may also get to see them a bit more active than normal.

After your safari ride you are then taken over to a private room at Pizzafari for a buffet breakfast.  The buffet is typical American breakfast fare that includes eggs, bacon, potatoes, made to order omelets, fruit and more.  While you eat the Cast Members from your safari walk around answering more of your questions.

Once breakfast is over you are free to head into the parks.  This is usually right around park opening.

The tour is typically offered Tuesday and Thursday and open to only Concierge Level and Disney Vacation Club Members staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.   Since the tour is only offered 2 days a week and is limited to 60 people it is recommended to book as early as possible.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Sunrise Safari is open to all ages and costs(breakfast included):

    • Child USD $40.00 – 45.00
    • Adult USD $75.00 – 80.00

Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is I am a Mommy Nerd.
